Puzzle Piece 1
Use the Blast Barrel to enter the second background, then walk to the left. Blow on the dandelion.

Jump off the slide to get K.

Puzzle Piece 2
On the beach, lure the crab to the left. Use the crab as a stepping stone, then tap the ground while standing on the box to make it appear.

It’s under the box on the beach. Tap the box to get it.

Roll jump from the skull-shaped crate to get the O.

Just before the checkpoint in the ship's deck area, tap the ground while standing on the red gate on the deck to pass through. N is at the very end of this passage.

Checkpoint 1
Puzzle Piece 4
On the deck of the second ship, guide the cannonballs to destroy the two crates above the hold. This grants access to the bonus area.

Climb up the ceiling to get G.

Puzzle Piece 5
Roll jump from the top of the two crates near the front of the ship up to the cabin, then head right.

Roll-jump left from the mast at the top left and land at the rear of the ship.

Puzzle Piece 7
Go to the top of the mast with grass growing on the lower side. The puzzle piece is inside an explosive crate, so hit it with a cannonball.
