There is a platform in the top-left corner of the first DK Barrel that leads to the bonus area.

Located midway through the section where bombs are hanging.

Toward the end of the first barrel section, if you wait, a puzzle piece will
drop down from above.

After the checkpoint, you can see an O beyond the platform above you.

Puzzle Piece 3
After the checkpoint, head right, take the bomb from the penguin, and throw it at the left wall to reach the bonus area.

Puzzle Piece 4
To the right of the bomb penguin mentioned earlier, there is a rotating platform. Hit it to descend and get the puzzle piece.

It’s located partway through the final barrel section. It’s best to fire it early.
